Locked is a 2025 thriller movie directed by David Yarovesky. It deals with a thief who attempts to steal a luxury vehicle but gets a call from an unexpected guest. Below is my Locked (2025) movie review

There is not much to this story. When we are introduced to Bill Skarsgard’s character Eddie, he is a bit of a low life who steals whatever he can get his hands on. He also neglects his daughter yet that is the best thing he has in his life. He is not a good character to root for but we don’t have other characters to root for. When he finds an unlocked luxury car, he tries to steal it but gets locked in. He then gets a call from the owner. This starts a back and forth between the owner (played by Anthony Hopkins) and Eddie.

To say this repetitive conversation gets old is a huge understatement. Most of Eddie’s dialogue has to do with him trying to bargain with the owner into letting him go. The owner, also a psychopath, keeps telling Eddie that it will not be that easy. This conversation sounds like the easiest gig that Hopkins ever did. He sounds like he did most of his dialogue in a booth as Eddie flails around trying to escape. There is a lot of screaming, cussing, and some very dull dialogue. We as audience don’t like either characters so we don’t really care what happens to them. At least I did not.
Anyway for most of the movie there is nothing that happens. The owner punishes Eddie when he misbehaves and this gets very repetitive. For most of the time this is a one man show that does not ever get very exciting. As stated, it is repetitive and very predictable. Even the ending is very boring. Are we as an audience supposed to feel something? Did Eddie all of a sudden become a good person? Sometimes the ending does justify the means, but I don’t think it is the case in this instance.
The entire movie takes place inside the car. Everything is controlled by the owner remotely and we barely get to see him. That means a lot of the shots are of Skarsgard looking goofy in front of car cameras. To me this is the type of movie that was very cheaply made. There are no cool shots (inside or outside) and the story is written very poorly. If you are extremely bored maybe it is worth a watch but I saw this on an airplane and still regret it. It is a barebones story with boring characters and very little action.
