The Home (2025) is a psychological thriller directed by James DeMonaco. It deals with a man assigned community service in an old people home filled with secrets. Below is my The Home (2025) movie review

There is a good amount of cliches in this movie. However they are what one would consider to be good cliches. Our protagonist is a troubled young man with a troubled past. He does “bad” things but he has a good soul. In his latest run in with the law his step father pulls some strings and gets him community service instead of jail. Reluctant at first he quickly agrees to it to avoid jail time.

Running around 97 min the movie takes its time with getting to creepy stuff. It has a couple of dream sequences that show some unsettling imagery as well as few creepy jump scares. The protagonist (Max) quickly realizes something is wrong with the house he is taking care of. The residents seem off but he can’t figure out in what way. As the movie progresses he finds out that nobody he trusted can be trusted. At the end the whole movie goes nuts. It gets quite graphic and frankly unexpected as Max gets tired of all the secrets and decides to take matters into his own hands.

The movie can be really creepy at times and has a few jumpscares that never get too obnoxious. It also has some creepy scenes involving eyes, ripping of skin, teeth pulling, and graphic death on spikes. Some scenes are also here to showcase old people being gross. It never gets too gross but it does get weird at times. Nothing big enough to ruin the movie. The violence, especially at th end, is pretty quick and never lingers too much. We see good amount of it but it is not overly explicit. Still bloody and sometimes over the top.

The setting is good enough. While it take mainly in one home it still has some good shots of people being creepy or shots of hallways being unsettling. Nothing new but it is well done. However the twist is weak. We have seen it many times before and it did not leave much of an impact on me. Not to soil it but it boils down to “rich/powerful people doing f*cked up things for their benefit”. I am sure you have heard of it.

Overall the movie is good. It is well shot, creepy, decently acted, and never drags too much. However the twist took a while to be revealed but there are few creepy moments sprinkled in to keep you guessing.

Thanks for reading my The Home (2025) movie review
